Disruption, Innovation, and Unexpected Resistance: Wireless Shifting System Launches Amid Industry Tension

Posted: April 2025

A fully developed and production-ready wireless shifting system is preparing for launch on Kickstarter, promising to deliver high-performance, cable-free drivetrain control to a much wider range of riders. The system is compact, lightweight, and radically affordable, with early backers able to secure the full MTB kit for as little as $79.

But while the product itself has generated early excitement among riders and testers, its launch has not gone unnoticed by certain segments of the bike industry.

“We’ve experienced unusual resistance from unexpected places,” says the inventor and lead developer behind the system. “Despite being respectful and transparent in online discussions, our posts have been abruptly removed, and accounts banned without warning. We don’t want to speculate on who’s behind it, but it’s clear that this project has made certain people very uncomfortable.”

While the team is not currently naming names, they have confirmed that legal matters are being reviewed regarding earlier patent activity by unrelated parties. The team emphasizes that these issues have no bearing on the functionality, delivery timeline, or ownership of the product currently launching on Kickstarter.

“This isn’t about drama. It’s about bringing something real to riders,” says the founder, Paul Gallagher. “We’ve spent years building this, and no amount of industry noise is going to stop it.”
