Permissions and phone settings

Permissions BikeNet uses

BikeNet asks for a permission when a feature needs access to something on your phone. You can decline permissions for features you do not use, although the related feature may then be unavailable.

• Location lets BikeNet record your route and calculate GPS speed and distance. It is also needed for destinations and turn-by-turn navigation.
• Bluetooth or Nearby Devices lets the app find and connect to NXS hardware and supported Bluetooth sensors.
• Notifications keep you informed when a ride is recording in the background and when there is an update to a support conversation.
• Camera and photo access are only used when you take or select a bike photo, or attach an image to a support request.
• When you export a ride, the phone’s share sheet handles access to files and other apps.

If a feature cannot connect

1. Open your phone settings and find BikeNet.
2. Confirm the matching permission is allowed.
3. Return to BikeNet, wake the bike or sensor, and try again.

Recording in the background

Keep location access enabled while riding so BikeNet can continue recording when the screen is off or another app is open. BikeNet also saves the ride as it goes. If the app closes or the phone restarts unexpectedly, it can usually offer to restore the unfinished ride the next time you open it.
