Wheelsets, cassettes, and chainrings

Keep gearing with the right wheel

BikeNet lets you record separate front and rear wheels or wheelsets. Because a cassette normally stays with a rear wheel, BikeNet attaches the cassette record to that wheel. When you swap rear wheels, the matching cassette comes with it instead of changing the gearing for the whole bike.

Choose a known cassette from the library when there is a match, or enter each cog’s tooth count yourself. Accurate tooth counts improve the gear-ratio and shifting information shown during and after a ride.

Changing NXS gearing

If you change the number of cogs, BikeNet recalculates positions between the current high- and low-gear limits and requires every gear to be checked. A portal cassette change is only a request until the app accepts it, writes it to the shifting controller, and verifies the readback.

Chainrings

Record the number of chainrings and the tooth count of each one. With a connected front-shifting system, BikeNet writes those values to the hardware and reads them back to confirm the change.

Gear ratios and post-ride analysis depend on both the chainring and cassette tooth counts. If either is wrong, BikeNet may identify the physical gear correctly but calculate the wrong ratio.
